Well, as I went looking for old cards and letters yesterday I found some other fun things. Specifically 3 sets of lists- that were several pages in length.
How many of you have done lists of memories? I can't remember doing it since I got married. The three lists I found were:
1. Must have been senior year of high school- Kirstin and I wrote down several pages of our inside jokes- (Kirstin if you are reading this call me when you have time for a loonng conversation, you know how we are ;) )
2. Freshman year at BYU- Annette and I wrote down 5 pages of brief memories or inside jokes. (I called her the other day and we LAUGHED although we couldn't remember all of the stories and couldn't get through all of the pages before the duties of parenthood called.)
3. Trip to Washington DC- Pages and pages and pages of one liners that we wrote at the airport while we were waiting for our flights home. I have the original list- did anyone else get a copy? Memories- Foggy Bottom, Eskimopies!, the joy of fitting 6 people in a 5 person car... (Jenni I know you are reading this- want copies? They are in your handwriting- Call me! ;) )
The lists are so fun to read over although a little embarrassing too! Did I really do that! Did I really say that! Oh, I remember that date...YIKES!
Does anyone else have such lists of memories? Do you think that anyone still does this?

The Art of Letter Writing...
Isn't it a little sad that letter writing has become a rarity? So long to the handwritten words of friends and family. Now we usually just get a few words and a signature to a card.
Of course there are very good reasons for this-
1. We can actually read what it written now because most correspondence is typed.
2. We often use email which is so quick and can be written quickly and then immediately delivered.
3. Handwriting while taught in schools quickly is forgotten because of the requirements for reports and things to be typed on a computer.
4. Thoughts typed on a computer can be spell checked for us, and we can edit our thoughts before we send them out. A very nice thing for those of us (like myself) that have trouble forming clear thoughts on a page.
The computers are wonderful things and I am the first one to send a quick email and spell check my work. However I was reading about writing family history books and the scene described was of a person looking in her grandmother's attic in a chest and finding piles of old letters. The excitement that reading those letters gave provided a clearer picture of who her ancestors were. These days letters are rarely kept and emails are kept even less. Even if I kept all of my emails would they be of interest to anyone?
Occasionally I write to someone about what I have been doing but usually my emails are short and brief. Sometimes it occurs to me that I should print out those emails and put them in my seldom used journal- but that never seems to happen.
I know that I have some letters - mostly that I received while at school (especially during my freshman year) that I have kept and enjoy re-reading. How life changes when you are not looking. I wonder where they are...perhaps I will take some time to look for them today.

My Brother is in a Commercial!
I just got an email from my brother John- he is going to be in a commercial for his school. Actually I guess he IS in it already. You can see it on YouTube. In the 30 sec commercial he is the one getting his neck adjusted (see :09).
Kind of fun and since I don't know anyone who lives where this commercial would be aired I thought I should spread the word!
