If you have not seen the YouTube video of Susan Boyle, you need to--especially if you enjoy watching Simon Cowell looking absolutely stunned.
Susan Boyle showed up on Britain's Got Talent on Saturday night looking for all the world like everyone's image of the deluded cat lady down the street. She is indeed a never-married woman in her late-40's who lives alone with her cat, and Cowell and his fellow judges were more than a bit skeptical when she declared her intention to be a professional singer as big as Elaine Paige.
Skepticism quickly turned to astonishment as she began singing. Before she finished the first line, a crowd that was prepared to laugh her off stage had become fans, and by the time she finished, they were on their feet screaming for more.
It is an incredible story and worth the 7 minutes to watch the whole clip. Or 14 minutes if you watch it twice as I did.
Oh, and rumor has it, Simon is already lining up a record deal for her.

Anyway, it's a good video. Simon lying about how he knew she was going to make a big impression was interesting. Best of luck to her, I hope she makes it on the West End.
